In order to ensure that I do not accidentally out someone, I have contacted each of the people below and obtained from each permission to list his or her name here.

Tona Brown   Ms Brown is a thoroughly-schooled and accomplished vocalist and violinist.  She teaches violin and voice, and does so with great patience and focus.  She is an inspiring performer who expresses her natural talents while living her transgendered life.  For more details of her life and accomplishments, follow the link to her website.

Stu Rasmussen   Stu Rasmussen is the first openly transgendered Mayor elected in the United States (in Silverton, Oregon - Population about 9,500).  Stu was first elected to the Council (in boy mode) in 1984.  Stu came out as trans in the 90's and was re-elected to the City Council in 2004 and elected Mayor in 2008, then re-elected Mayor in 2010.
Research and Education
Michael A. Gilbert aka Miqqi Alicia Gilbert   Philospher, author, consultant, and director of Fantasia Fair, Michael/Miqqi is Full Professor of Philosophy at York University, Toronto, Canada.  S/he is active in the transgender world as well as the academic world. She is book review editor and a regular columnist for Transgender Tapestry and has presented workshops at numerous trans events including Fantasia Fair, Southern Comfort, and First Event.
