Terminology
Glossary If you are new to the worlds of Gender and Transgender, you may hear us using terms you only heard on television.  Here's what we mean......
Hormones, SRS, and Prostate Cancer
Prostate Cancer Some treatments for prostate cancer will affect the outcome of sex reassignment surgery (SRS) in the male-to-female transsexual. The short answer is: Yes! You can have SRS after prostatectomy. The results, though, are not exactly what you might hope. Here are some things I discovered.
Hormones What happens when you start using estrogen? I can't say what will happen to you, but here's what happened to me........
Hair and Beard
Eyebrows Thin your eyebrows gradually. Family, friends, and coworkers are unlikely to notice if you pluck just a few hairs at a time.
Legs and Chest No, don't use tweezers! Waxing is extremely painful, but electric pluckers allow you to control the pain.
Thinning the beard Yes, you can pluck your beard, too. Read about it.
Professional laser hair removal Only if your beard hairs are black. Read about my experience.
Electrolysis For me, as for most male-to-female transsexuals, electrolysis was the answer.
Partial hair pieces Instead of a full-head wig, your hairdresser may be able to fit you with a partial hair piece.
Shape Enhancement
Shape differences Men and women have different shapes.  Duh!  See the differences charted side by side.
Bust padding Learn about different methods of padding, then buy or make your own.
Hip padding You, too, can buy a butt on the Internet! Find out how -- and learn how you can make your own.
Tucking Tuck the genitals to hide the embarrassing male bulge
Spirituality
Love and forgiveness I've found a welcoming church, and I have grown enormously since I started attending in December, 2005. Read about the good feelings I found there.
Movies
Kathleen's list There really is life outside of transgender! My list, though short for now, provides a glimpse of the universality of our experiences as transgendered people.
Behavior
Smile The most incongruent behavior I've ever seen is a transgendered male with a sour face, and a turned-down mouth set in a grimace -- like he was dressing in women's clothes because someone was threatening him with bodily harm if he didn't. You'd think he'd be happy!  See how to smile.
Words and Phrases Men and women use different words and phrases.  Here is a start at a list of them.
